FORBIDDEN

In 2008 Helen was commissioned by Dancefest, based in Worcester, to create a huge site specific performance throughout the grounds of Goodrich Castle, Herefordshire. Over a six week period Helen brought together over a hundred young people from the local area, thirteen professional dancers, two horses and their jockeys and aerialists, working alongside Wired Aerial, who hung from the arches of the castle. Helen created this full length work alongside composer Nathaniel Reed

MK RAW

Since 2005, Helen has been one of the lead choreographers for MKT RAW, an annual dance event held at the Milton Keynes Theatre. Over a hundred young people are auditioned for sixty places on the two week choreographic residency creating theme based work for the Milton Keynes stage.

STEP FORWARD

‘Working with scientists from Oxford Brookes University, the company have created a work based on scientific research conducted into human walking and stride patterns, also known as ‘gait’.

A FOOLS JOURNEY

Created by dance maker Helen Parlor, alongside writer Sally Annette the work takes a long hard look at the Tarot cards for inspiration to create the movement and the small vignettes of the story. ‘A Fool’s Journey’ featured seven professional dancers and several dozen young folk to form a climatic flash mob at the end of the twenty minute work.
